Our story
Alain Dominique Perrin
With Château Lagrézette, Alain Dominique Perrin combines his refined taste for the exception and his entrepreneurial passion. Driven by a fierce will, he counts neither his time nor his energy to revive the lands of the Château. To revive viticulture on the Lagrézette estate, in 1988 he called on the great oenologist Michel Rolland in 1988.
The Malbec grape variety
The Malbec grape has been harvested at Château Lagrézette since the 14th century. Malbec holds no secrets for oenologist Michel Rolland as he is both the man who shaped the success of Argentinian Malbec and the one who greatly contributed to making Lagrézette the world icon of Malbec.
From 1997, Robert Parker rated the Pigeonnier Lagrézette cuvée at 92/100; the following year at 93/100. In 1999, the Pigeonnier Lagrézette reached 94/100, unheard of in this region of France.
Whatever the international expert-tasters, the ratings are constantly improving to reach 97/100 to 98/100, thus allowing all the Lagrézette vintages to be part of the very closed from the greatest wines in the world. The Viognier outclasses, under the pen of Jancis Robinson, the biggest producers and, for the second year in a row, the same British critic has positioned the property's rosés, 100% Malbec (Rosé de Julie and Roseberry), at the top of the French rosés.
Le Chai
Away from noise and any parasitic vibrations, sheltered from daylight, cold and heat, the underground cellar is the ideal setting for the wine to mature there in complete serenity. Built in 1992, renovated in 2011, impressive with perfection, it has state-of-the-art equipment that allows the most elaborate winemaking practices to bring out the elegance and refinement of the wines while respecting the environment. The architecture is sober and majestic, its cleanliness legendary, and thousands of visitors are impressed by its perspective.
