Domaine Lagrézette The Land of Malbec
The Malbec of Lagrézette : a story that goes back to the XVth century
The history of Château Lagrézette is strongly linked to that of the vine, since the first written records of the harvest date back to 1503. When Alain Dominique Perrin took over the Lagrézette estate in 1980, he decided to give back to Malbec, a great grape variety that was the favorite nectar of the Emperor of all the Russians Pierre Le Grand, its letters of nobility. With the talent of Michel Rolland, a world-renowned oenologist, the hybrid vines are torn off and replaced by the original Malbec. Today, the Château's vineyard covers 90 hectares divided into three estates.
The domain of Lagrézette, the historic terroir of Caillac
When Alain Dominique Perrin bought Domaine de Lagrézette, his planting rights amounted to 3.5 ha, including 2.7 ha of a prodigious terroir around the Pigeonnier, giving its name to an exceptional wine awarded several times by Robert Parker with the note of 98/100. Today, the Lagrézette vineyard covers more than 60 ha, including 85% Malbec, 13% Merlot and 2% Tannat. The clay-limestone and siliceous soil gives the wines their assertive character and their authenticity. Maintained with great care (manual stripping and thinning), the vineyard produces grapes harvested and sorted by hand, with preserved aromas, a guarantee of high quality.
Rocamadour, the land of exceptional Viognier
The Domaine de Rocamadour offers a vineyard of 10 ha of white wines, planted at 10,000 vines / ha. The clay-limestone soil gives its mineral note to the Viognier and Chardonnay grape varieties. Cool nights and early morning harvests are essential for obtaining fresh grapes and lively wines, without any loss of aroma. The Pigeonnier White Vision, quintessential of the great whites of Lagrézette, is one of the best Viogniers in the world - 18/20 Jancis Robinson. Merveille de Rocamadour won the 2020 Gold Medal at the Concours de Lyon.
